 NFL Playoff Betting Tips

The 2016 NFL Playoffs have arrived and Wild Card Weekend is set and ready to begin! The 2015-16 NFL Regular Season has once again been profitable for myself and my subscribers as we finished 56% up over +$900! That is now back-to-back winning seasons (60% up over +$3,900 last season) and the NFL continues to be one of my most profitable sports to bet on. The NFL attracts the majority of sports bettors and because of this, it is much harder to recognize if the line movements are being moved by the sharp bettors, or by the outweighing public money. This is especially true during the NFL Playoffs, as the recreational bettors place bigger wagers and those who have never wagered before decide to threw a chunk of money on a game.

As a long time sports bettor, I have seen guys absolutely kill the sportsbooks during the NFL Regular Season, only to lose it all in the NFL Playoffs. This is due to a few reasons, which will be included in my NFL Playoff Sports Betting Tips below. Prop betting, which is typically a small attraction to sports bettors during the regular season, suddenly becomes increasingly popular as we get deeper into the NFL Playoffs. By the time the Super Bowl rolls around, there are Prop Wagers on essentially everything, all the way down to the coin flip! Because of the limited amount of games and every game being on primetime television, a ton of sports bettors uncharacteristically start making more wagers than they typically would, just to have action on every game. If you’re bankroll is in the red heading into the NFL Playoffs, now is a bad time to think you are going to win it back.

Over the years, I have comprised a list of NFL Playoff Betting Tips, mostly of what not to do. I don’t expect many to heed to my tips, yet I expect many readers to ignore my tips, but remember them after they have went against my advice. Sports betting is truly a live and learn arena, where some never learn from their mistakes and most that do, still continue to make them over and over. In order to be a successful sports bettor, one of the most important factors you must eliminate is your emotions, among many others. Now let’s get to the list that I was talking about earlier!

NFL Playoff Betting Tips
  • Don’t get suckered, Sucker - Prop bet options increase and if you haven’t developed a winning strategy on how to make profitable Prop wagers during the regular season, don’t start now.
  • Stay Away from the Parlay - Expert Sports Bettors identify the majority of parlay bets as sucker bets, laying a little to win a lot with your payout relying on more than 1 outcome to occur.
  • Decease the Increase - If you lose your Single Wager on the early game, don’t double-down on the next game unless you already intended to before you lost the first game. Playing catchup in sports betting is a bad idea, especially in the Playoffs.
  • Line Movement - As I stated above, with the abundance of recreational bettors coming out of the woodworks to bet on the NFL Playoffs, the sharp money can and does get outweighed. Just because a favorite who opened -3 moves 2 points, doesn’t mean the sharps agree.
  • Take Advantage of Sportsbook Promos - Because of the influx in wagers being placed during the NFL Playoffs, many offshore sportsbooks offer their best promotional offers. Be sure to read the fine print of what the offer details.
  • Look to Bet the Underdog - NFL Playoff underdogs went 13-8 against the spread (ATS) in the last 2 seasons. The competition is tougher and teams are trying to pull out all the stops to win the game.
  • Underdog Wild Card - Home underdogs are 13-7 ATS in the Wild Card round.
  • Wild Card Home Field Advantage - Home teams in the Wild Card round 52-28 straight up (SU) over the past 20 seasons.
  • Hedge your Future Wagers - If you are fortunate to have a Future Wager still alive, don’t be afraid to put yourself in a No Lose situation.
  • Fade the Higher Seed? - Since 2002, the #1 Seed’s have gone 21-35 ATS, fading the #1 Seed’s would have 63% accurate.
  • Live Wagering - Live wagering can provide some profitable positions, but don’t get too carried away with making live wagers and end up playing catch up.

I’m sure there will be more tips that come to mind after posting this, but the tips I’ve provided cover the majority of the essential NFL Playoff Betting Tips that sports bettors should follow. If you will be following my NFL Premium Picks, please make sure to follow the Unit Sizes recommended. I hope you all enjoy and make a profit in the NFL Playoffs!
