Washington Loses Tough One To Utes In OT
The Washington Huskies had a real chance at taking over the top spot in the Pac-12, but the Utes had other plans in their 80-75 OT win over the Huskies on Saturday night. The Huskies are still at 5-2 in league play, which has them tied for the lead with Oregon. Leading the way for the Huskies in the loss was Andrew Andrews, who scored 17 points. Marquese Chriss (15) and Noah Dickerson (14) round out the double digit scorers for the game, while having a big night on the boards was Dejounte Murray, who grabbed 13 rebounds. Both teams struggled shooting the ball, but Washington struggled a bit more as they hit just 38.4% of their shots overall and just 23.1% from long range.
The Huskies pretty much just go seven deep, with those seven putting up at least 5.7 ppg. Andrews leads the team with 21.7 ppg, while Murray averages 14.7 ppg and Chriss puts in 11.5 ppg to round out the double digit scorers on the team. The Huskies play a very fast pace and most teams that do are good scoring teams, but poor shooting teams and the Huskies fit the bill there. The Huskies come in ranked 11th in the nation in scoring, putting up 84.5 ppg, but they have only connected on 42%, which is 270th in the nation. Because of their pace of play they also really struggle on the defensive end of the floor as they come in allowing 78.9 ppg, which is 316th in the land, but they do allow just 41.9% shooting, which is 109th.
Bruins Fall Big In Oregon
The UCLA. Bruins Have played some very average overall this year as they come in at 12-8, but they are struggling in the Pac-12 where they are just 3-4. This is a team pegged by many to compete for league honors and they still might, but right now they are just fighting for an invite to the Big Dance. On Saturday they went on the road and took on a strong Oregon and were really never in the game in the 86-72 loss. The Bruins got solid games from Aaron Holiday, who had 19 points and five boards, and Thomas Welsh, who had 16 points and eight rebounds. Tony Parker (11), Bryce Alford (10) and Isaac Hamilton (10) round out the double digit scorers in the game for the Bruins.
UCLA did go 7-14 from long range and held the Ducks to 35.7% from deep, but the Bruins were outrebounded by 10, while shooting just 43.5% overall. UCLA isn’t a deep team as they have just five players that average more than 4.2 ppg on the year, but all five do average in double figures. Bryce Alford leads the team with 16.7 ppg, while Isaac Hamilton is 2nd at 16.3 ppg. Tony Parker is 3rd at 13.4 ppg, while also leading the team in boards with 9.9 rpg. The Bruins come in ranked 46th in the nation in scoring, putting up 79.8 ppg, while hitting 46.3% of their shots, which is 74th in the nation. The Bruins have really struggled on the defensive end of the floor as they come in at 298th in points allowed, giving up 77.7 ppg, while allowing teams to hit just 42.4% of their shots, which is 133rd.

[772] UCLA -6.5 Over Washington
Going with the Bruins here as the are a solid home team and will be looking for some payback for the OT loss to Washington earlier in the year. Defense is the key here as the Huskies have allowed 93 ppg on 51.6% shooting on the road, while the Bruins have allowed just 73.8 ppg on just 40% shooting at home. Both offenses are strong, but the Bruins will win and cover this one with their defense.
