Montreal Canadiens vs Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Betting Preview & Free Prediction

Montreal Canadiens (13-2-1 SU, 13-3 PL, 8-6-2 OU) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (9-5-0 SU, 5-9 PL, 2-9-3 OU)
When: 7:30 PM ET, Wednesday, November 11, 2015
Where: Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA
Lines: Pittsburgh -130
Total: 5

The Montreal Canadiens continue to lead the league in points after they took out Boston by a 4-2 score at home on Saturday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins are back home after a lengthy road trip that ended rather badly with a 5-2 loss at Calgary. The road team has won the last five in the series.
Big Third Period Lifts Canadiens Over Bruins
The Montreal Canadiens took on the Boston Bruins on Saturday night and they trailed heading into the the third period, but three goals later they walked out with the 4-2 win. Lars Eller got the scoring started in that period, and then it was David Desharnais that gave them the goal ahead goal, before Max Pacioretty ended the scoring with an empty netter late in the game. The win now has them at 27 points on the year and it was also their 6th win in a row vs Boston.
Mike Condon continues to get playing time due to the injury to Carey Price and he continues to be very strong in goal. After grabbing the win vs Boston he is now 6-1 on the year with a 1.57 GAA and remember boys and girls, he is just a rookie. The Canadiens check in as the top scoring team in the league (3.6 gpg) and they are 3rd on the power play (27.3%), while on defense they are 2nd in goals allowed (1.8 gpg) and 2nd on the penalty kill (88.9%).
Pittsburgh Ends Road Trip With Loss At Calgary
The Pittsburgh Penguins went on a four game road road trip and won the first three of that trip, but then they landed in Calgary and walked out with a loss. Not only was it a loss to end their trip, but the loss also ended their six game overall winning streak. After starting the year with two straight losses on the road, Pittsburgh has now gone 5-1 in all games away from home.
Taking the loss in the game vs Calgary was Marc-Andre Fleury who allowed four goals in the game, after allowing a total of four goals in his previous four games. Fleury is still having a very good year as he is 7-5 with a 1.93 GAA on the year, while vs Montreal he is 18-14 with a 3.01 GAA in his career. Pittsburgh checks in at 26th in the league in scoring (2.2 gpg) and 20th in power play conversions (15.9%). On defense they are 3rd in goals allowed (2.0 gpg) and 3rd in penalty kill (88.6%)

Free NHL Pick: Pittsburgh/ Montreal Under 5

This game features two of the better goalies in the NHL right now and one team that can’t score in Pittsburgh. That should translate into a nice low scoring game. Fleury comes in with a slim 1.93 GAA on the year, while Condon has a 1.57 GAA. The Penguins have had trouble scoring all year and while they are facing the top goal scoring team in the league, it will be hard for the Canadiens to get much off of Fleury in this one, who is looking to bounce back from a bad showing in Calgary. This one has 2-1 written all over it.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Hockey Preview & Free Pick

Dallas Stars (5-1-0 SU, 4-2 PL, 4-2-0 OU) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (3-3-0 SU, 1-5 PL, 0-4-2 OU)

When: 7:00 PM ET, Thursday, October 22, 2015
Where: Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA
Lines: Pittsburgh -135
Total: 5.5

The Dallas Stars come in off a hard fought 2-1 road win over Philadelphia, which was their 4th win in a row. The Pittsburgh Penguins are also on a roll as they have won three in a row thanks to the 3-2 home victory over Florida on Tuesday night in OT. Last year Dallas won both games played between these teams.
Dallas Is Having A Fun Road Trip
Last year Dallas was a much better team on the road than at home and so far this year they are 3-1 on the road to start the year and they have won all three games of this road trip so far. After starting the trip with wins at Tampa Bay and Florida, Dallas then invaded Philadelphia and never trailed in the 2-1 win. The Flyers did get 35 shots in the game, but Antti Niemi was up to the task by stopping 34 of the shots.
Jamie Benn not only leads the team in scoring with six goals, but also the league and he had one of the two goals in the win. The other was scored by Tyler Seguin, who now has four goals on the year. For the season Dallas is 2nd in the league in scoring (3.5 gpg) and 4th in power play (30%), while on defense they are 12 (2.3 gpg) and 7th in penalty kill (86.7%).
Pittsburgh Is Winning Despite Its Offense
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling to score during the early part of their season and it really cost them out the gate as they lost their first three games. They scored a total of three goals in those loses. Now they have won three in a row, but still the offense hasn’t looked good as they have scored just seven total goals in the three wins. So far the Pens have yet to put up more than three goals in a game.
Marc-Andre Fleury has been stellar in goal for the Pens n the three wins, allowing a total of three goals in that span. He has started all six games for Pittsburgh so far and has a very solid 1.85 GAA in his starts. This team may just be unbeatable if they get that offense going. Fleury is 6-4 with a 2.28 GAA in his career vs the Stars. The Penguins are 2nd in the league in shots per game, but 27th in scoring (1.7 gpg).

Trends
Dallas is:
  • 1-6 their last 7 at Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is:
  • Home team is 4-1 the last  in the series
  • 6-1 in their last seven at home vs Dallas

Free NHL Pick: Pittsburgh -135 over Dallas

Dallas is hot right now, but so is Marc-Andre Fleury and I can see him coming up with a big game in this one. He has to continue to playe well as the offense just hasn’t caught up yet. Pittsburgh would also like to exact a bit of revenge after losing both meetings between the teams last year. This should be a very good game that may even go to OT, but in the end Pittsburgh should walk away with the hard fought win.

Detroit Red Wings vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Hockey Preview & Free Pick

Detroit Red Wings (3-2-0 SU, 3-2 PL, 2-2-1 OU) vs Edmonton Oilers (2-4 SU, 2-4 PL, 3-3-0 OU)
When: 7:00 PM ET, Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Where: Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta
Lines: Detroit -120
Total: 5

The Detroit Red Wings come into this game having lost their last two games including a 4-1 decision at Montreal on Saturday night. The Edmonton Oilers have played five of their first six games on the road and are just 2-4 on the season so far. They lost 4-2 to St Louis at home, which was their only home game played till this one.
Defense Reason For Two-Game Slide
The Detroit Red Wings started the year at 3-0, allowing a total of four goals in those games. Now they have lost two games in a row and have allowed nine total goals in the losses. The Red Wings were outshot 77-42 in those games as well. Jimmy Howard was in goal for the game vs Carolina and allowed five goals in that game, while Petr Mrazek took on Montreal and allowed three goals in that loss.
Getting the start in this one is expected to be Jimmy Howard, who is 2-1 with a 2.03 GAA this year, while in his career vs the Oilers he has a sparkling 12--12 record with a 1.89 GAA vs them. He has owned this team. Detroit ranks 12th in the league in scoring (3 gpg) and dead last in shots per game (21.4), while on defense they are 17th in goals allowed (2.6 gpg) and 28th in shots allowed (33.4).
Edmonton Struggling On The Offensive End
The Edmonton Oilers are off to a 2-4 start this year and a big reason for the slow start is an offense that has put up more than two goals in just one of their six games so far. This team doesn’t have many scorers on it as just six players have scored the 12 goals that Edmonton has put up so far. Rookie Connor McDavid is the leader with three goals and two of them came in their 5-2 win over Calgary. Still this team doesn’t have a lot of scoring options.
Overall Edmonton is 24th in scoring (2.0 gpg), 25th in spg (25.8) and 22nd in power play (15.0%). On the defensive end they are 19th in goals allowed (2.7 gpg), 25th in spg allowed (32.7) and 4th in penalty kill (89.5%) In-goal tonight is slated to be Cameron Talbot, who is 1-3 with a 2.54 GAA, while in his career he is 1-1-1 with a 2.27 GAA vs the Red Wings.

Trends
Detroit is:
  • 19-8 their last 27 vs the Western Conference
  • 6-1 the last seven meetings in Edmonton
Edmonton is:
  • 11-25 in their last 36 home games
  • 6-21 in their last 27 after allowing two goals or less

Free NHL Pick: Detroit -120

The Red Wings are the clear choice here. They have the better offense and Howard has owned this team in his career. Edmonton is not a good home team and their offense is just horrible right now, plus Talbot has struggled in goal as well. Detroit should bounce back from their two-game slide with a nice road win in this one.

San Jose Sharks vs Washington Capitals NHL Hockey Preview & Free Pick

San Jose Sharks (2-0-0 SU, 2-0 PL, 1-1-0 OU) vs Washington Capitals (1-0-0 SU, 1-0 PL, 1-0-0 OU)
When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, October 13, 2015
Where: Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
Lines: San Jose +105, Washington -115
Total: 5.5 u45

The San Jose Sharks begin a four game east coast trip tonight with a date in the Nation’s capital vs Washington, who is the favorite to make it to the NHL Finals out of the Eastern Conference. San Jose is currently 2-0 on the year, while Washington checks in at 1-0.
The San Jose Sharks come in 2-0 on the year and have allowed just 1 goal in the two games. That would be Martin Jones doing the work in the pipes for the Sharks. Martin has faced 47 shots so far in the two games and has a save percentage of .979. This is really nothing new for Jones, who has allowed just 1.99 goals in his career in the NHL. This will be the first time in his career that he faces Washington.
The Sharks missed the playoffs last year for the first time since 2003, but they have made a statement so far with their wins over Los Angeles on the road and Anaheim at home. This is team that is hungry and built to make a run at the Stanley Cup. Patrick Marleau leads the team with 2 goals thus far, with both goals coming in the 2-0 win over Anaheim on Saturday night.
The Washington Capitals are the favorites to represent the East in the Stanley Cup this year, but i their opener on Saturday Night they go an unexpected test by a New Jersey team that is favorites to represent the basement in the East. Washington had many chances to really blow the game open, but they let the Devils hang around in the 5-3 win. First, Washington grabbed an early 2 -0 lead, only to have New Jersey tie it up by the end of the first period and then in the second period the Caps squandered a 5 on 3 chance.
Finally in the third period it was Alex Ovechkin that scored an amazing goal, which gave the Caps the lead for good. Alex was excited to get the goal, but felt that the game shouldn’t have been that close. Ovechkin also got an assist later on in the period to give him two points for the night. The Capitals are a very strong team on paper and will fight for the Stanley Cup all year, but they feel that they need to look a bit crisper, especially when taking on the weaklings of the NHL.

Trends
San Jose is:
  • 5-12 in their last 17 games after allowing 2 goals or less
  • 1-5 in their last 6 road games vs a team with a home winning pct of .600 or better
Washington is:
  • 6-1 in their last 7 home games
  • 9-3 in their last 12 games vs a team that allowed 2 goals or less in their last game
***Specials*** MLB Postseason Just $50.00… NBA Season Package Just $100.00 Each. Those packages run through the playoffs… $20.00 Weekly CFB and NFL packages are available as well. Click Here For All The Action

Free NHL Pick: Washington -115
Yes the Sharks have dominated this series, but this is an early statement game for the Caps, who are coming off a very lackluster performance vs a team they should have easily beaten. Washington needs this game to show that their opener vs New Jersey was just a fluke and they also need this game to send a message to the rest of the NHL that they will be the team to beat this year. San Jose has started off 2-0 on the year and they will be a solid team all year, but they just don’t have the horses to beat the Capitals in this one. This will be an exciting game, with Washington coming out on top.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Nashville Predators NHL Hockey Preview & Free Pick

Carolina Hurricanes (0-0-0 SU, 0-0 PL, 0-0-0 OU) vs Nashville Predators (0-0-0 SU, 0-0 PL, 0-0-0 OU)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Thursday, October 8, 2015
Where: Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee
Lines: Nashville -190
Total: 5

The Carolina Hurricanes hope that a few shrewd moves in the offseason by GM Ron Francis will help get them out of last place in the Metropolitan Division, while the Nashville Predators look to build on a surprising season that saw them post 104 points. This should be an interesting season in both cities this year.
The Carolina Hurricanes were the worst team in the Metropolitan Division as they grabbed just 71 points on the year. The team really didn’t make a lot of moes to change the fortunes of a squad that hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2009, but what was done was very shrewd by GM Ron Francis. The first move was to dump Alexander Semin huge contract in a trade for Goalie Eddie Lack, who immediately upgrades a bad position on the team. The addition of 5th round draft pick, Noah Hanifin is also huge for the team as heb has franchise player written all over him.
The rest of the team pretty much returns intact and Ron feels that they must have patience with the core players that include Cam Ward, Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner. They do need more production from Staal and Skinners as the pair combined for just 41 goals last year. The Hurricanes are also hoping that youngsters Victor Rask and Elias Lindstrom will continue to progress. This is not a team that is built to win now as they continue to build for the future. It will be another long year in Carolina.
The Nashville Predators were picked by many to finish last in their division last year, but new coach Peter Laviolette had other ideas as he led them to a 2nd place finish in the Central with a 104 points. They did bow out in the first round of the playoffs, but still it was a very successful year for the team. GM Dave Poile was so impressed with his core players that he stood pat on making any huge moves, but rather decided to work on depth in the offseason.
Depth is important for a team that seemed to run out of gas late last year as they finished just 6-12-3 in their last 21 games. The additions were minor, but should pay off in the end. Cody Hodgson, Steve Moses and Barrett Jackman were all UFA’s and should pay dividends for this team, especially down the stretch. The core of this team is very strong as evidenced by the fact that they were in the hunt for the President’s Cup for most of last year, until that late season swoon. Now with the added depth they just may have the pieces in place for a deep run in the playoffs.

Trends
Carolina is:
  • 19-39 their last 58 road games
  • 18-41 in their last 59 when playing on 3 or more days rest.
Nashville Is:
  • Host is 6-1 the last 7 in the series
  • Nashville is 5-1 the last 6 at home in the series.

Free NHL Pick: Nashville

The Hurricanes are not a good team this year and I don’t give them any chance at stealing this one in Nashville vs a team hat looks stronger than last year’s team that put up 104 points on the board. The Preds are not a strong offensive team, but they do play defense very well and have a very solid goalie in Pekka Rinne, who had 41 wins and allowed just 2.18 gpg last year. The Hurricanes have very little in the way of offense and Cam Ward is not as strong in goal as he once was. Look for the Preds to start the season at 1-0 with a solid win tonight.

Philadelphia Flyers vs Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Preview & Free Pick

Philadelphia Flyers (0-0-0 SU, 0-0 PL, 0-0-0 OU) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (0-0-0 SU, 0-0 PL, 0-0-0 OU)
When: 7:30 PM ET, Thursday, October 8, 2015
Where: Amelie arena in Tampa, Florida
Lines: Tampa Bay -180
Total: 5.5

The Philadelphia Flyers are looking to get back on track after a rough season that saw them finish 6th in the Metropolitan and home for the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Lightning come into this season off a very good year in which they won the Atlantic Division with 108 points and made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, before losing to the Blackhawks
The Philadelphia Flyers did not have a good year at last year as they went just 33-31-18 on the year, while posting 84 points on the season. GM Ron Hextall didn’t make a lot of noise in the offseason as he felt he has a great core of young players. The problem was getting them to play to their potential and that is why he went out and hired Dave Hakstol to coach this team that has tons of potential. Dave has spent his coaching career in the colleges, which is very odd because usually in hockey you don’t see coaches go from the colleges to the pros.
Hakstol was at the University of North Dakota and tok hi team to the Frozen 4 in 7 of 11 seasons. He was an excellent college coach and really knows how to get the most out of players, which is exactly what Hextall is hoping for with his young team. Still it is a gamble for the Flyers as hockey at the ro level is a different animal altogether. The only other real moves that Hextall made were to trade for Sam Gagner and he gave Evgeni Medvedev a big contract. Medvedev has played for Russia and was also a superstar in the KHL. The Flyers have some nice pieces in place and if Hakstol can work his magic then this Flyers team may surprise people this year.
The Tampa Bay Lightning lost in the NHL Finals last year, but this year’s team looks to be a bit better and they didn’t have to do a whole lot in the offseason to make it that way. Steve Yzerman likes his team so much that he felt it was best to leave it alone in the offseason. This is a young and talented team that has Stanley Cup runs in them for at least the next few years. 11 of their regular players are 25 or younger and just 2 players on the entire roster are are above 30 years old. Of the 11 players that are 25 years or younger, four of them were the top four scorers on the team.
Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Nikita Kucherov are known as the Triplets and the trio combined for 199 points last year, which is the highest for a trio in the league and they may top that this year. Steven Stamkos is a player to watch as he has 50-goal potential and is heading into a contract year. The Lightning should get his best this year. The Lightning also have one of the better defenseman in the league in 24 year old Victor Hedman, while in goal is Ben Bishop, who was 40-13-5 last year. Behind him is Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is a blue-chipper and gives them the best 1-2 goalie punch in the league. This team is ready to finish what they couldn’t last year.

Trends
Philadelphia is:
  • 13-38 in their last 51 road games
  • 1-6 Their last 7 in the series
Tampa Bay Is:
  • 37-15 their last 52 home games
  • 7-0 Their last 7 at home in the series
***Specials*** MLB Postseason Just $50.00… NHL and NBA Season Packages Just $100.00 Each. Those packages run through the playoffs… $25.00 Weekly CFB and NFL packages are available as well. Click Here For All The Action

Free NHL Pick: Tampa Bay -180

I know it’s a bit pricey, but  I just can’t go against Tampa Bay at home here. They are clearly the better team that is mostly intact from last year’s team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Flyers are also mostly intact, but they are going through a coaching change and that may take a little time to work itself out. Philadelphia is a team on the rise, but they are not at this level just yet, especially on the road vs one of the best teams in the league. You may want to look at the puck line in this one as well. I say Tampa wins rather easily.
