The Chicago Bulls come into this game on a three game slide, after losing 105-102 to Brooklyn at home on Monday night, which was their third loss in a row. It may not get better for them right now as they will be without Joakim Noah for two weeks. The Bulls are 15-11 overall and just 4-6 on the road this year so far. This is the first year under the guidance of Fred Hoiberg and his main focus this year was upping the pace of play for his team and it has generated a bit more offense but still they were hoping for more as this offense has been really inconsistent this year, ranking 20th in the league at 100.4 ppg, while also ranking 28th in offensive FG% (42.4%). Jimmy Butler leads this offense with 21.5 ppg, while a healthy Derrick Rose is having a solid season, scoring 13.5 ppg, while leading the team in assists at 5.4 per game.  Still, Hoiberg was expecting a bit more offense from this team. Their faster pace of play has also affected their defense some as they are normally a team that ranks in the top five in terms of points allowed, but this year hey are 12th in that department, allowing 99.5 ppg, despite the fact that they are 1st in defensive FG% at 41.8%.

The Oklahoma City Thunder come into this game on a roll, as they have won three games in row and nine of their last 10. That puts them at 20-9 on the year, including a 13-3 mark at home. This is a mission team his year as they missed the playoffs last year thanks to a slew of injuries, with the big one being to Kevin Durant, who only played in 23 games a year ago. Now hey are healthy and are playing with a purpose. Kevin Durant comes in averaging 26.6 ppg on the year, which is 3rd in the league, while Russell Westbrook is 5th in the league at 25.3 ppg. It just shows how important it is for Westbrook and Durant to be healthy at the same time. The pair has led the Thunder to the 2nd ranked offense in the league, putting up 107.8 ppg, while also ranking 3rd in FG% at 47.5%. This is not only an offensive team as their defensive numbers are very strong. The Thunder check in at 8th in the league in points allowed (99 ppg) and 3rd in defensive FG% (42.6), while leading the league in rebounding margin at +8.28 per game. This is a complete team.

I will go with the Thunder here as they are one a roll, while the Bulls have lost three straight and will be playing without Joakim Noah, who is their 2nd best rebounder on the team at 8.8 per game and you need good rebounding when facing the best rebounding team in the league. The Bills offense has really been inconsistent this year, while the Thunder have been one of the best and hey just seem to be getting better as the season goes on. On defense the Thunder also have a big edge and they have been dominant a home, where they have outscored foes by an average of 10.3 ppg. Look for the Thunder to roll here.

The Los Angeles Clippers come in having won 6 of their last 7 games and are 13-9 overall for the year. Their road record is now at 4-4 after they beat Milwaukee 109-95 on Wednesday night. The Clippers are a team that is built around their offense with stars like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin leading the way. The two have averaged 16.9 ppg and 24.3 ppg respectively to lead the Clippers to the 6th ranked scoring offense in the league, putting up 103.4 ppg. They also shoot the ball well as they rank 5th in that department, hitting 45.9% of their shots. On defense they are very average as they come in allowing 101.6 ppg, which is 18th in the league.
The Chicago Bulls come in at 11-8 on the year, which includes a 4-5 mark on the road. The Bulls come in off a 105-100 loss at Boston, which is their third loss in a row. The Bulls are a healthy team and are expected by many to be a serious challenger in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls have upped their pace of play on offense, and while it is not great they do rank 21st in the league in scoring, putting up 98.7 ppg on the year so far. That is a slight improvement over last year. The defense has been strong for the most part, but they have allowed 100+ points in three straight games. Still they come in at 11th in points allowed at 98.6 ppg and 1st in defensive FG% at 41.2%.

I will be taking the Over here. The Bulls defense has allowed 103.3 ppg in their last three games and will now be taking on the 6th ranked scoring offense in the league. I find it hard to think the Bulls will hold them under 100 points in this one. On the flipside we have a Chicago team that has averaged a decent 97.2 ppg at home and they will get their points vs a Clippers team that is allowing a little over 107 o the road for the year. Clipper road games have averaged 113 ppg and I feel that we should easily get over the 201 point mark in this one.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Chicago Bulls Thursday Night NBA Preview & Prediction

Oklahoma City Thunder Vs Chicago Bulls

Thursday night NBA action and I will take a look at the game between the Oklahoma City and the Chicago Bulls, which will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. According to the Oklahoma City Thunder vs Chicago Bulls Betting Odds at Bodog Basketball, the game has been listed as a PK, while the total has been set at 208.

Last year was the first time since the 2008-2009 season that the Thunder had missed the playoffs and injuries played a pretty big roll down the stretch. Russell Westbrook missed some time again and only played in 67 games, but the big blow was having Durant on the floor for just 27 of the 82 games played. Scott Brooks was let go in the offseason so the task of holding this team together now falls on the shoulders of Billy Donovan, who makes the jump from the colleges to the pros. With Westbrook, Durant and Ibaka this is a very dangerous team that should have little trouble in winning the Northwest Division. OKC has started off on the right foot with a 3-1 record and an offense that has averaged 118.2 ppg.

The Bulls had another solid year as they went 50-32 overall and they made it to the Eastern Conference Semis, before bowing out to Cleveland in 6 games. The Bulls actually had a 2-1 lead in that series, before losing the last 3 games. The Bulls have had a few solid seasons in a row, but solid is not what they are looking for so out is Tom Thibodeau and in steps Fred Hoiberg, who is now charged with taking the team to level beyond solid. A big plus for the Bulls last year was that Derrick Rose played more than 39 games, which is something he hadn’t done in the last 2 years. Last year he played in 51 regular season games, after playing in just 49 the last 2 years combined. Having Derrick play more than he sits is obviously a big deal for the Bulls. Hoiberg’s first task is jumpstarting an offense that has just been stuck in the mud the last few years. His hopes are of making this team a more uptempo team, instead of the grind it out team we have known the last few years. Defensively this team will be solid as usual, so with more scoring it will make it hard to beat this team consistently. Hoiberg is a high energy guy and he has all the right pieces this year to make a strong run at the Eastern Conference Championship.

Pick: Oklahoma City PK

The Bulls are a team that will compete for the Eastern Conference, but still the West is the better conference and Oklahoma State resides in the West. The Thunder are 10-4 their last 14 in the series and they are what we call a mission team this year, after missing out on the playoffs. They are the better team here and should walk away with a huge road win in this one.

Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons Friday Night NBA Preview & Free Pick

NBA Preview: Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 8:30 PM ET, Thursday, October 19, 2015
Where: Palace at Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan
Televised: Locally

Odds: Line opened with Chicago favored at -4, but has been bet down a little to -2.5. The OU line currently stands at 199.

The Chicago Bulls have a new coach, a new offense and the have high hopes with a healthy squad. Well they are off to a good start so far with a nice two point home win over Cleveland and then they went out on the road and beat up Brooklyn by a score of 115-100. That is the type of game that Chicago is looking to play this year. They want an uptempo game with plenty of points being scored, rather than the slow grind it out type of games that we have seen from them in the past. Jimmy butler was a huge part of the Bulls success last year and he leads the team in scoring so far with 20.5 ppg, while a healthy Derrick Rose has put up 16.5 ppg in the early going.

The Detroit Pistons also check into this game at 2-0 on the young season as they have beaten Atlanta on the road 106-94 and then took out Utah at home by a score of 92-87. The Pistons are another team that has high hopes this year as they have a young talented roster that is just loaded with potential. Pope, Jackson and Drummond all appear ready for a big year. They have already shown they are for real with the 12 point road win over Atlanta to start the year. This is a team to watch of for this year.

[709] Detroit/ Chicago Over 199
I have to go with the Over in this game. Chicago wants to play an uptempo game and that just what they got when they faced Brooklyn on the road. That is the type of game that Hoiberg wants this year. Detroit also want to push tempo with their young athletic team and they were able to in their opener vs Atlanta. In their second game they took on a Utah team that likes the low pace and so the game was low scoring. This one won’t be as both teams will push the pace and give us a game over 200 points.
