Minnesota Vikings 2015 Preview w/ Win Total Bet

As soon as this ‘Win Total’ was released I automatically thought VALUE. Last season, Mike Zimmer led the Vikings to a 7-9 campaign as they improved week by week. QB Teddy Bridgewater really had no help on the offensive side of the ball but still managed to execute enough plays to win games. The return of Adrian Petersen and the addition of WR Mike Wallace are two massive offensive weapons that will in turn open up some running lanes for Bridgewater himself.

Defensively, Zimmer took over when this group ranked worst in football in 2013. Last year's group shaved their points allowed by 8.6 points per game to rank 11^th.  Now they have stars at all three phases of their defense and if they improve they could break into the Top 10 in the NFL. Sharif Floyd and Everson Griffen are stand outs on their Line, Chad Greenway is one of the most exciting LB in football, and Harrison Smith is one of the best safeties in the league.

The Vikings will really need to improve on their divisional play as they’ve gone 3-8-1 in the NFC North over the past two seasons. The Bears are susceptible, ushering in a new era of their own under John Fox, and the Vikings lost close ones to the Lions and Packers last year. Going 3-3 is certainly in reach of this Viking team.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 20-12 over the last 2 seasons and come into the 2015 campaign with an extra offensive weapon in Jeremy Maclin with a strong emphasis of throwing the football. Maclin provides the deep threat they need, not to mention speed.

                                              

Andy Reid prides himself on his teams playing solid defense, evidenced by ranking top-five in points against in the last two years. The defense did see a big drop in turnovers created in 2014, however that was partly due to the fact that team leader Eric Berry missed 10 games last season after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. But Berry is now fully recovered and is ready to lead a Chief secondary that hopes to play up to the level of the team’s dominant pass rush.

KC’s special teams are rock solid as well including speedy return men as well as the best punter in the NFL. Kansas City managed 9 wins last year without ever throwing a TD to a wide receiver. Look for them to contend for the AFC West Crown and be a playoff team in 2015 behind the more than capable Alex Smith at QB.

When looking at all 3 aspects of NFL teams (Offense, Defense & Special Teams), the Chiefs are among the top 5 in both Defense and Special Teams and with the addition of Maclin at WR, the Chiefs should be able to spread the field to allow Jamal Charles to get some good running lanes.

The Seattle Seahawks exemplify what an NFL team should be. A powerhouse offense along with a powerhouse defense and the best fanbase in the NFL. Offensively, they have it all, a great quarterback with a high IQ who can scramble his ass off, but also knows when to pass instead of run. A beast in a running back and because of the mobility, time in the pocket caused by the offensive line, the wide receiver get plenty of time to get open. The addition of Jimmy Graham will serve as a boost in the Tight End position as well. The exact same thing can be said for the Seahawks defense, ranking 1st in opponents points per game and yards per play. The Seahawks will once again be the team to beat in the NFC. In fact, we may actually see another playoff rematch between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, which I can’t complain about.

I absolutely expect a regression for the Pittsburgh Steelers this upcoming season. They had a very favorable schedule last season, ranking 29th in their strength of schedule. This division should be very tough and a the Steelers’ schedule will be much tougher than last season. In addition to their tough division rivalries, they will have to face the (Brady-less?) Patriots, Seahawks, Broncos, Chargers, Colts, and a “TRAP” game against the Oakland Raiders in between 2 divisional opponents. However, the competition seems pretty even in this division and an 8 or 9 win season, may be just enough to win the division.
