The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come in off a huge home win over North Carolina, which now puts them at 7-4 in the ACC, while the Clemson Tigers come in at 7-4 in the ACC as well, but they have lost three of their last five games in conference, following a 60-57 loss at Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Colson Leads Irish To Big Win Over Heels

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have had a solid year, but they did go limping into their game with the Tar Heels off a 79-70 road loss at the hands of the Miami and two games earlier they were beaten by 15 at Syracuse. Still playing on the road and at home can be night and day for the Irish as they are very tough to beat on their home floor and the Heels found that out. The Irish trailed by as much as 18 in the game and by as much as 15 in the second half, but Bonzie Colson (19 points & 10 boards) led the comeback as he continually got the loose balls and made some big shots down the stretch as well. He just refused to let them lose and so did Zach Auguste, who had 15 points, 10 rebounds and two big blocks.
Demetrius Jackson also had a solid game with 19 points, while rounding out the double digit scores for the Irish is Steve Vasturia (13) and V.J. Beachem (10). Jackson leads the team in scoring at 16.1 ppg, while Auguste is 2nd at 13.9 ppg and leads them in rebounding at 10.9 rpg. The Irish are a strong offensive team, scoring 78.5 ppg, which is 61st in the nation, and on 48.7% shooting, which is 16th. At the defensive end of the floor they have been rather average as they come in ranked 147th in points allowed, giving up 70.1 ppg, while allowing 43.4% shooting, which is 187th. The Irish really struggle at defending the three, where they ballow 38.9% shooting, which is 338th in the land.

Offense Struggles In Loss To The Hokies

The Clemson Tigers are not a great offensive team as it is, but still they should have had a better showing than they did in their 60-57 loss at Virginia Tech, who is not a good defensive team. The Tigers were able to muster their 57 points on just 35.1% shooting overall, while hitting just 7-28 from downtown, which is good for just 28%. Landry Nnoko led the Tigers in the game with 17 points, while also pulling down 12 rebounds as well. Jordan Roper had 16 points and Donte Grantham had 11 points to round out the double digit scores in the game for the Tigers. Jaron Blossomgame is the team’s leading scorer at 16.8, but he was not much of a factor in the has he put up just 8 points.
For the year Donte Grantham (10.3) ppg and Jordan Roper (10 ppg) are the only two other players that average in double figures for the Tigers. Blossomgame leads them in rebounding at 7.0 rpg. The defense is what really fuels this team and they did have a good game vs the Hokies, holding them to just 37.5% shooting overall, including just 25% (4-16) from long range. Clemson has been a strong defensive club this year4 as they rank 17th in points allowed, giving up just 63 ppg and 94th in defensive FG% at 41.4%. They have needed that defense as their offense is 270th in scoring, putting up 69.1 ppg, on 43% shooting, which is 237th.

The Fighting Irish haven’t been great on the road this year and they are off a storm the court win over the Tar Heels, but still they cannot afford to let down here, especially vs a team that they are tied with in the league standings. The Tigers own the better defense here, but the Irish are far better on offense and they should be able to shoot over the Clemson defense as they are one of the best shooting teams in the nation. This Irish won at Duke this year and they can win here as well.

***34-20-1 (62.7%) Run In The NFL and have gone 7-5 in the playoffs so far. The Special is 10.00 for any Super Bowl Package on our site. I should have my play up by Wednesday Of Next Week***  Click Here To Get The Action***

The Pittsburgh Panthers come in off a hard fought two point road win over the Seminoles, which now has them at 5-2 in the ACC so far this year. Panthers took on Florida State on the road on Saturday and they really got off to a lackluster start, trailing the ‘Noles by 10 points at the half. Jamie Dixon then read them the riot act at halftime and the Panthers responded by outscoring FSU 41-29 in the 2nd half to grab the 74-72 win. The Panthers really grabbed the momentum down the stretch as FSU had issues scoring once leading scorer Malik Beasley fouled out. The Panthers had come in losers in two of their previous three games and Coach Dixon stated that it was a game they really needed to win. The Panthers are currently in a four way tie for 3rd place in the ACC at 5-2. Sterling Smith and Jamel Artis led the team in scoring with 16 points each, while James Robinson also had a solid game with 14 points, three rebounds and five assists. Michael Young rounds out the double digit scorers with 13. Interesting to note that Pitt hit just 39.2% of their shots overall and just 66.7% from the charity stripe, but they also hit 43.9% of their shots from long range. Young leads the team in scoring at 16.8 ppg, while Artis (16.1 ppg) and Robinson (10.1 ppg) also average in double digits for the Panthers this year. The Panthers come in at 33rd in the nation in scoring (81.1 ppg) 32nd in shooting (47.9%) and 55th in three point shooting (37.8%), while on defense they are 48th in points allowed (65.8 ppg), 95th in defensive FG% (41.4%) and 74th in three point defense (32.1%).

The Clemson Tigers have been playing very good basketball of late and they just may be a team to watch in the ACC, especially with the way they play defense. The Tigers come in at 5-2 in the ACC and they had won five conference games in a row until Virginia took care of that with a 69-62 win last Tuesday night. That’s right, the Tigers haven’t played in a week. The Tigers shot well in the game overall, hitting 46.3% of their shots, but they may have lost the game from behind the arc, where they hit just 33.3% (8-24) of their shots. A few more of those go in and they win the game. The leading scorer in the game for the Tigers was Jaron Blossomgame, who had 23 points, while also grabbing six rebounds. Landry Nnoko had 15 points to round out the double digit scoring for the Tigers in the loss. Defensively it was not their best game as they allowed the Cavs to hit 54.3% of their shots overall and 57.1% (4-7) of their long range shots. Blossomgame (16.4 ppg) and Donte Grantham (10.3 ppg) are the only players on the team that average in double figures for the Tigers, who check in at just 268th in the nation in scoring (69.4 ppg), while hitting just 43.8% of their shots, which is 195th. The Tigers are more of a team that relies on defense as they are 16th in points allowed, giving up just 62.7 ppg, while allowing teams to hit just 41.4% of their shots, which is 98th.

I like the Tigers here as they are at home and have had plenty of rest, while the Panthers come in having gone just 2-2 in their last four games. Overall the defensive numbers are solid for both teams, but at home the Tigers have allowed just 55.8 ppg, while the Panthers have allowed 71 ppg on the road. It will be that stifling home defense that wins it for the Tigers here.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs Clemson Tigers ACC Title Betting Preview & Free Pick

CFB Preview: North Carolina Tar Heels vs Clemson Tigers

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 8;00 PM ET, Saturday, December 5, 2015
Where: Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina
Lines: Clemson -4.5
Total: 67.5

The Clemson Tigers come in as the top ranked team in the nation with a 12-0 mark. This is their final hurdle to making it to the NCAA Playoffs. If they win they are in and if they lose then they probably need some help to get in. Clemson has been an excellent offensive team this year as they come in ranked 14th in the nation in total yards and 15th in scoring (37.9 ppg). Deshaun Watson has had a great year under center as he has thrown for 3228 yards and 27 TDs, while also rushing for 756 yards and another 9 TDs. This is a tough offense to stop as many teams have found out this year. This is not just an offensive team as they also rank 7th in the nation in total defense, 4th vs the pass and 17th in points allowed, giving up just 18.8 ppg. Clemson has out scored ACC foes by 19 ppg and have won each of their last 7 conference games by at least 10 points.

The North Carolina Tar Heels really came out of nowhere to post their 11-1 record and put themselves in a position to possibly play for a national title. Thier lone loss on the year was their opening game vs South Carolina, which now looms as a shocking loss, considering how bad South Carolina has been this year. Still the Heels shook that off and have now won 11 games in a row. The Heels have a bit better offense as they rank 16th in total yards and 11th in points scored (41.2 ppg), but Clemson has a bit better defense as the Heels rank 65th in total yards allowed and 19th in points allowed, giving up 20.8 ppg. The Heels are also led by a dual threat QB as Marquise Williams comes in having thrown for 2608 yards and 18 TDs, while also rushing for 786 yards and another 10 TDs. The Heels also have Elijah Wood, who has rushed for 1280 yards and 16 TDs

I don’t see a whole lot of defense in this game as both of these teams can and have really lit up the scoreboard this year. Both teams have played good defense this year, but both teams have been involved in some shootouts as well. Three of Carolina’s last four games have put up 97, 80 and 79 points, while Clemson has had three games with at least 67 points being scored. These two teams have also racked up the points vs each other the last two years as 85 and 97 points have been scored in their last two meetings. This one should be loads of fun.

Georgia Tech Yellowjackets vs Clemson Tigers College Football Preview & Pick

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets(2-3 SU, 2-3 ATS, 3-2 OU) vs Clemson Tigers (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS, 1-3 OU)
When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, October 10, 2015
Where: Clemson Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina
Lines: Clemson -7
Total: 54.5

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come try to rebound off a tough 38-31 home loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels, while the Clemson Tigers look to keep their momentum going, following their impressive 24-22 win over Notre Dame last weekend. This is a huge game for both teams inside the ACC.
Coming into the season the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were thought of as a very serious contender in the ACC’s Coastal Division, and they still might win it, but their job has been made a bit more difficult as they have started out 0-2 in the ACC. The losses were at Duke two weeks ago and then last week they held a 28-24 lead heading into the 4th quarters before North Carolina came back to win 38-31. This is not the start this team was expecting as they have 13 starters back from last year, including QB Justin Thomas, who ran for 1000 yards and threw for 1700 more last year.
Georgia Tech’s offense is the Triple Option and it is very hard to stop, but Duke and Notre Dame did contain it in BB weeks, while last week it was their defense and two costly Turnovers that did them in. The Jackets still have road games vs Virginia and Miami, plus home games vs Pittsburgh, Florida state Virginia Tech and Georgia on their remaining schedule after this game, so this team needs t turn it around quickly or they will not even make it to a bowl game.
The Clemson defense was aided by miserable weather, but still they played very well in their 24-22 win over Notre Dame. Really the defense held notre Dam in check for 3 quarters and then had to fend off a furious rally before winning the game by 2 points on a missed 2-pt conversion. The Tigers did benefit from 4 Notre Dame turnovers and that was really the difference in the game as the Irish outgained Clemson by 141 yards in the contest. Thanks to the win Over Notre Dame, The Tigers are now ranked 6th in the country, which is where the Irish were before Clemson beat them.
The Tiger offense has been solid this year, but still it has been their defense that has been really good as they have allowed just 305 ypg and 14.8 ppg on the year so far. In last year’s meeting with Georgia Tech it was the Tigers offense that let them down as they put up just 190 totals yards and 6 points. They will need much more from their offense in this one.

Trends
Georgia Tech is:
  • The Underdog is 15-6 ATS the last 21 in the series
  • 9-3 ATS their last 12 games overall
  • 5-2 ATS their last 7 ACC games.
Clemson is:
  • 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games off a SU Win
  • 1-6 ATS their last 7 games following an ATS loss
  • 0-6 ATS in their last 6 ACC games.

Free College Football Pick: [375] Georgia Tech +7.5

Georgia Tech is a better team than they have shown the last 3 weeks and will be taking on a Clemson team that just may be ripe for a letdown after their nationally televised win over Notre Dame. Clemson was actually outplayed in that game and their offense was good for just 296 yards in the game. They will need to do better than that vs a Tech defense that has been solid this year as they have allowed just 338 yards of total offense. Clemson also will need to do better on offense if they hope to keep pace with this high scoring Georgia Tech squad. Georgia tech is a very good team that needs this game badly and i feel they will play with that desperation, while Clemson may be just a bit flat after last week’s big win.

Clemson Tigers vs Louisville Cardinals College Football Preview & Free Pick

CFB Preview: Clemson Tigers vs Louisville Cardinals

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 7:30 PM ET, Thursday, September 17, 2015
Where: Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky
Televised: ESPN

Odds: The line opened with Clemson as being 3.5 point favorites and they have now been bet up to 6 point favorites. The OU line started out at 54 and has been bet to 51.

The Clemson Tigers are the favorites to with the ACC and with good reason as they bring possibly the best offense in the league this season, plus a defense that looks very strong as well.  The Tigers put up 30.8 ppg and with 7 starters back, including QB Deshaun Watson, their top 3 WRs from last year and their top RB as well. The QB position rates as 10th best in the nation, while the WR corps rates as 3rd best in the land. So far the passing offense has looked good as they have put up 281.5 ypg through the air on 75% passing. Granted that was vs Wofford and Appalachian State, but still a solid showing. Defense was a question mark heading into this year, as they had just 3 starters back, but so far so good as they have allowed just 255 ypg overall, including a mere 92.5 through the air. This defense will be tested a bit more this week.

Louisville comes in at 0-2 on the year, losing at Auburn by 7 and losing at home to Houston by 3 points last week. Louisville was supposed to be a team that would push Florida State and Clemson for honors in the ACC and they still might, but so far they haven’t looked the part. The offense has looked good for this team so far as they have put up 400 ypg and 27.5 ppg so far. Still their ppg is down a few points from last year. This is a young offense that may take a few games to get going, but they do have some very good offensive talent. The defense looks like it could be a problem for this team as they have allowed 395.5 ypg and 32.5 ppg so far. The defense is you as well as they have just 4 starters back, so it was expected to start slow this year, but still we note that in their previous 29 games coming into this year they had allowed 30+ pints just 4 times, so it is telling that they have allowed 30+ in both games this season so far.

I like the Over in this one. The Clemson offense can score in bunches and the Cardinals have big issues on defense. This is a you defense that has just 4 starters back and has shown that the will as they have allowed 30+ points in back-to-back games vs two very good offenses and they will face another good one tonight. The Clemson defense has just 3 starters back and we really don’t know how good they are. Yes they have looked good so far, but this will be by far the best offense they have faced so far. I can see both offenses having a good showing vs a couple of young defenses in this one.  This one could go over very easily.
