Royals at Blue Jays - 10/19/15 ALCS Game 3 GOW TOTAL

Written by Mike "The Scientist" Singer (Follow me on Twitter @TheScientistSBC)  Sportsbetcappers.com
Joey Bats flips, and then admires his greatness for a moment in Game 5 of the ALDS,
as the Blue Jays beat the Rangers after being down 2 games early in the series.

Game 3 Info

Kansas City Royals (100-69) at Toronto Blue Jays (96-73)Time and place: 8:07 pm (Rogers Centre)Pitchers: J Cueto (12-13) (3.46) vs. M Stroman (4-0) (2.25)The Line: Toronto Blue Jays -170 / Kansas City Royals +160 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest OddsTV: FOX Sports 1

Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals could really wrap this series up with a win tomorrow night, thus going up 3-0 (currently on a 4 game win streak in playoffs). Since going down 2 games to 1 in the ALDS, the Royals bats have caught on fire, and scored 27 runs during the winning streak (6.8rpg).  Thus far in the 2015 AL playoffs, Alcides Escobar is leading the Royals with 9Hs, while Kendrys Morales & Eric Hosmer have combined for 15 RBIs.  The Kansas City pitching staff has allowed just 5Rs in their last 3gms & have 18Ks in the first 2gms of the series.  Tomorrow, Johnny Cueto will get the ball after coming off the pitching performance of his life in game 5 of ALDS (playoff statline: 3.86 ERA, 0.86WHIP, and 13k/3BB).

Toronto Blue Jays

An insane amount of pressure will be on the Jays and rookie Marcus Stroman (post-season stats: 13IP, 3,46ERA, 1.08WHIP,9K/3BB), to grab a victory at home, and keep any hopes alive to advance to the World Series. The Jays bats have just managed three runs in this series & have struggled to make contact. They've lost 12 straight games when scoring 3 or less Rs. Kevin Pillar and Chris Colabello (who's 31 and just had a breakout season, great story) combined for 18Hs & 6RBIs while Donaldson and Joey "flippin" Bats both have homered twice. The Jays pitching staff's allowed 4 or more Rs in 5 of 7gm this postseason. The Blue Jays ain't gonna get it done if their batting lineup doesn’t wake up from losses in games 1 and 2.
However, have we seen the Jay's bats go to sleep in a playoff series before?
Oh yeah, that's right... In the ALDS, when the their backs were against the wall after dropping two at home against the Rangers, and then they flipped the switch and dropped 19Rs in 3gms (for a 6.3rpg avg) to come back and win the series.  AND two of those bursts of runs came on the road!

Overall TOTAL analysis (pun intended)

Yes, Cueto is coming off probably the best (and most important) game of his career, but now we're heading to Toronto....a big, hitter friendly ball park where lumber seem to wake up from slumber.  And I don't have a very good read on who's taking game three and I honestly could see this go either way.  However, I'm EXPECTING the Jays bats to wake up AGAIN, just like in the ALDS, only do it in front of the home crowd this time.  SO, a lot of runs are going to be scored.  ALL 4 of the games these two pitchers threw in the playoffs so far have gone OVER 8 RUNS (see stats below).
Give me the over 8 ALL DAY LONG.
The Scientist's Hypothesis: over 8 (4 out of 6 units)

Additional POST-SEASON STATS

7of10 Games in ALDS went 8 or over.
1of2 Games in ALDS went over 8
8of12 AL playoff games going 8 or more

ALDS
Stroman pitched Gm2, 4-6 and Gm5, 6-3
Cueto also pitched Gm2, 5-4 and Gm5, 7-2

New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays MLB Betting Odds & Free Pick

MLB Preview: New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 7:07 PM ET, Sunday, September 20, 2015
Where: Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario
Televised: ESPN

Odds: The Blue Jays opened as favorites of -181 and it has been bet down to -165. The OU Line is holding steady at 9.

The Yankees are running out of chances at catching the Blue Jays for first place in the AL East, But they did close the gap a little with last night’s 6-4 win in 10 innings.  Last week the Yanks lost 3 of 4 at home vs the Jays and  game 1 of this series, but after last night’s win they are now just 2.5 games behind the Jays.

Tonight the Yanks will look to Ivan Nova to get them a big win. Nova spent most of the first part of the season on the DL and he hasn’t pitched good at all since coming off it as he has 6-8 record with a 5.11 ERA on the season. He has pitched a bit better on the road, posting a 3-3 record and a 3.75 ERA. Ivan is 2-2 with a 4.80 ERA in 6 games (5 starts) in this park in his career.

The Toronto Blue Jays made all the right moves this year and are now closing in on clinching the AL East. They have a current 2.5 game lead over the Yanks in the AL East and a 5.5 game lead in the wildcard race. The Jays have been an excellent home team this year and just look like they are getting ready for the playoffs. They clearly have the best offense in the league and their pitching was upgraded with the addition of David Price.

Now they get back Marcus Stroman, who  may one day be the Ace of this staff. So far this year he has made just 2 starts and he is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in those starts. Marcus has made 4 starts in his career vs the Yanks and is 3-1 with a 3.18 ERA in those starts.

Let’s look for this one to be rather low scoring. Marcus Stroman is a heck of a pitcher and he has looked good in his two starts this year so far.  He also has pitched well in his career vs the Yanks, posting a 3.18 ERA in 4 starts. Ivan Nova is anything but special this year, but he has pitched much better on the road, where he has a 3.75 ERA compared to at home where his ERA is 6.35. He has 2 starts vs the Jays this year and he allowed 6 ERs to them in his home start, but just 3 ERs in his road starts. This is a huge game for both teams and I expect both starters to pitch like it, while the offenses may just be a bit tense. This game has playoff atmosphere written all over it and those games tend to be a bit lower scoring. This one will as well.

Saturday MLB Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angele Angels Odds & Free Pick

MLB Preview: Toronto Blue Jays at Los Angeles Angels

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 9:05 PM ET, Saturday, August 22, 2015
Where: Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California
Televised: MLB Network

Odds: The Angels have been listed as a slight favorite at -108, with the total sitting at 8 (-110).

The pitching matchup for this game will pit Marco Estrada for the Blue jays vs Andrew Heaney for the Angels.

Marco is a right hander and has 19 starts on the year and 6 appearances out of the pen. Overall he has pitched well with a 10-7 mark and a 3.20 ERA. On the road he has gone 5-3 with a 3.42 ERA. He has faced the Angels just once in his career and that was back in 2013, when he was a member of the Brewers. In that game Milwaukee lost 6-5, with Marco getting the No-decision. He allowed 4 ERs on 9 hits in 7 innings in that game.

Andrew Heaney is a left-handed starter that is becoming the Angels most consistent pitcher this year. He has pitched 10 games for the Angels this year and has allowed more than 2 ERs just once. At home the Angels have gone 6-0 in his starts and his is 3-0 with a 2.63 ERA in those starts. He has never faced the Jays, but he needs to be careful here as this Toronto team really hits lefties well.

The Jays do hit lefties at a .277 clip overall, compared to hitting just .249 vs righties. On the road they have hit just .243 overall and .252 vs lefties, while scoring 4.98 rpg. The Angels have been searching for offense all year long and come in hitting just .240 at home overall, including .243 vs righties, while scoring 3.84 rpg.

I will go with the Angels in this one. I know the Jays are hot and this line may indicate a play on them, but the Angels have yet to lose a game at home with Heaney on the Mound. Yes the Blue hit lefties well, but much worse on the road than at home, plus they have never seen this guy pitch, which gives Heaney the edge. The Angels are desperate right now as they are falling further behind in the Wildcard chase and they have the right guy on the mound to slow this Jays team down. Just the right spot here for LA to get a big win.
