Joey Bats flips, and then admires his greatness for a moment in Game 5 of the ALDS, as the Blue Jays beat the Rangers after being down 2 games early in the series. |

The Kansas City Royals could really wrap this series up with a win tomorrow night, thus going up 3-0 (currently on a 4 game win streak in playoffs). Since going down 2 games to 1 in the ALDS, the Royals bats have caught on fire, and scored 27 runs during the winning streak (6.8rpg). Thus far in the 2015 AL playoffs, Alcides Escobar is leading the Royals with 9Hs, while Kendrys Morales & Eric Hosmer have combined for 15 RBIs. The Kansas City pitching staff has allowed just 5Rs in their last 3gms & have 18Ks in the first 2gms of the series. Tomorrow, Johnny Cueto will get the ball after coming off the pitching performance of his life in game 5 of ALDS (playoff statline: 3.86 ERA, 0.86WHIP, and 13k/3BB).
Toronto Blue Jays
An insane amount of pressure will be on the Jays and rookie Marcus Stroman (post-season stats: 13IP, 3,46ERA, 1.08WHIP,9K/3BB), to grab a victory at home, and keep any hopes alive to advance to the World Series. The Jays bats have just managed three runs in this series & have struggled to make contact. They've lost 12 straight games when scoring 3 or less Rs. Kevin Pillar and Chris Colabello (who's 31 and just had a breakout season, great story) combined for 18Hs & 6RBIs while Donaldson and Joey "flippin" Bats both have homered twice. The Jays pitching staff's allowed 4 or more Rs in 5 of 7gm this postseason. The Blue Jays ain't gonna get it done if their batting lineup doesn’t wake up from losses in games 1 and 2.
However, have we seen the Jay's bats go to sleep in a playoff series before?
Oh yeah, that's right... In the ALDS, when the their backs were against the wall after dropping two at home against the Rangers, and then they flipped the switch and dropped 19Rs in 3gms (for a 6.3rpg avg) to come back and win the series. AND two of those bursts of runs came on the road!
Overall TOTAL analysis (pun intended)
Yes, Cueto is coming off probably the best (and most important) game of his career, but now we're heading to Toronto....a big, hitter friendly ball park where lumber seem to wake up from slumber. And I don't have a very good read on who's taking game three and I honestly could see this go either way. However, I'm EXPECTING the Jays bats to wake up AGAIN, just like in the ALDS, only do it in front of the home crowd this time. SO, a lot of runs are going to be scored. ALL 4 of the games these two pitchers threw in the playoffs so far have gone OVER 8 RUNS (see stats below).
Give me the over 8 ALL DAY LONG.
The Scientist's Hypothesis: over 8 (4 out of 6 units)
