Denver Broncos vs Indianapolis Colts NFL Football Preview & Prediction

NFL Preview: Denver Broncos vs Indianapolis Colts

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 4:25 PM ET, Sunday, November 8, 2015
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana
Televised: CBS

Odds: Line opened with Denver as 2.5 point favorites and has been bet up to -4, while the OU line currently stands at 45.5.

The Denver Broncos come into this game off a rather easy home win of the Green Bay Packers. The defense for the Broncos was awesome as they allowed the high flying packer attack just 140 yards of total offense and just 10 points. It was an amazing game plan by the Broncos, who own the league’s best defense. It wasn’t all defense in the game as the offense put up 500 yards of offense, including 340 yards through the air. Many have questioned whether Peyton Manning still has anything left and if he can still hit the deep pass. Well he put those concerns to rest as he hit many big plays down the field in the win. Denver is now 7-0 on the year.

The Indianapolis Colts have really struggled this year so far as they come in at just 3-5 on the year, but still in the AFC South that is good enough for them to be leading the division. This is a team that was picked by many to represent the AFC in the super bowl. That is highly unlikely now, but still they can win their division and make it to the playoffs, but they have to start playing with more consistency. Their last couple games they have been behind early big and have made furious comebacks only to fall short in both games. It has been their offense that has been a problem for them, but they have started to show signs that they are coming out of it after putting up 24.7 ppg in their last 3 game.

The Colts offense is starting to come around and while hey will be taking on the top defense in the league, I look for that defense to struggle some as they really went al out vs Green Bay last week. The Colts defense has allowed 30 ppg in their last 3 games and we know that the Broncos can put up points in bunches. This one could be a shootout.

Indianapolis Colts vs Carolina Panthers Monday Night Football Betting Odds & Free Pick

The Indianapolis Colts have not had the year they were expecting so far as they come in at 3-4 on the year, but still that has been good enough for them to lead the South Division. They will be taking on a Carolina Squad that has year to lose a game this year.

Indianapolis Colts vs Carolina Panthers Betting Odds provided by 5Dimes
Indianapolis              +5.5
Carolina               -5.5

Over/Under:       46

The Indianapolis Colts have really struggled out the gate this year, posting a 3-4 record. They have actually played better on the road this year (2-1) than at home (1-3). A big reason for heir early season struggles seems to be the play of Andrew Luck, who has posted a 76.3 QBR thus far, with 11 TDs and 9 INTs. He has missed a couple of games and in stepped Matt Hasselbeck, who led them to two wins in a row, while posting a 95 QBR in the process. That had many Colt fans wondering if they needed to make the change permanent. The fans are wondering even more now as the Colts have lost their last two with Luck back in the lineup. The defense has also been an issue for this team as they rank 31st in the league in total defense and 21st in points allowed (24.9 ppg).

Carolina comes in at 6-0 on the year and have really been the biggest surprise so far this season. The Panthers have been doing it this year with a ground attack that leads the league in rushing and a very good defense. The ground attack is led by Jonathan Stewart who has 423 yards rushing so far, while Can Newton has chipped in with 245 yards and 4 TDs. Cam has not had a great year passing the ball, but he has don enough to win games. He also hasn't needed to do a whole lot as the defense has been very good for this tar, ranking 10th in yards allowed and 5th in points allowed, giving up just 18.3 ppg on the year.

[275] Indianapolis +5.5 over Carolina
The Colts are due and so is Andrew Luck and I feel it will happen in this game. The Panthers have been a very good team this year, but they are not a team that has enough offense to blow teams out and I can't see them being able to do that here vs a fired up ad desperate Colts team that had such high hopes heading into the year. The Colts are 7-0 ATS as dogs off a SU loss, while the Panthers are 2-8 ATS in the 2nd off BB home games and they are in the middle of a Philadelphia/ Green Bay sandwich. I like the Colts to win this one outright.

New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts Sunday Night Football Preview and Free Premium Pick

This is the game that Brady has been waiting for since last January as he finally gets a shot at the team that caused him so much trouble in the offseason. The Patriots have gone 4-0 to start the year and have outscored their opponents by nearly 19 ppg so far, while the Colts are 3-2 on the year, but still not playing all that well. Written by David Hess Follow Me on Twitter @DavidHess311

New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts Betting Odds provided by 5Dimes
New England          -9.5
Indianapolis           +9.5

Over/Under:       54.5

The New England patriots are 4-0 on the year and are looking lik a team that just may not be beaten this year. In their last 2 games they have beaten Jacksonville by 34 at home and Dallas by 24 on the road, allowing a total of 23 points in the two games, while scoring 81. Overall they have been the top offense in terms of yards per game 423.8 ypg and passing (331 ypg), while putting up 37.9 ppg, which is second in the league. This offense is a machine right now, but the surprising part of their team this year has been a defense that has allowed just 19 ppg on the year. This was not supposed to be a strong defensive squad, but they have shown otherwise. This looks very much like a complete team and at this point there is no question who the best team in the AFC is.
The Colts got off to an 0-2 start and their low point of the year was the 20-7 road loss to the Jets on Monday Night Football. Since then they have won 3 in a row, but those three wins were not really impressive, especially who they played against. After the Jets loss, the Colts won at Tennessee 35-33, then won at home 16-13 in OT vs the Jags, before winning at Houston by 7 in a game that they were outgained by 121 yards. The Colts have now been outgained in every game, which is really not good for a team that will now face the Patriots. Indy’s problems this year have really been on offense, which wasn’t expected as they had Andrew Luck, who was to have a huge year. Uh not so fast as the Colts are just 15th in the league in passing after being one of the better passing offense in the league last year. Their other issues is a pass defense that is 28th in the league. This is not really a good matchup for the Colts under normal circumstances, but now it has been made worse by the fact that they will face an angry Brady.

[273] New England -9.5 over Indianapolis
Okay can anyone else see the Patriots looking to run up the score in this one? I know I can. Yes Indy will be very motivated as well, but their are way over their heads in this one vs a New England team that has won the last 4 in the series by at least 21 points in each game. And that was without extra motivation. Brady is pissed about deflategate and has been waiting a long time to get some revenge on the Colts. So far he has put up big numbers this year, throwing for 1387 yards with 11 TDs and no INTs so far. That Pats lead the league in total offense and 1st in passing while scoring 37.2 ppg, which is 2nd in the league. On defense they are 12th in yards allowed and 7th in points allowed, giving up just 19 ppg. The Colts come in ranked 23rd in total offense and 24th in scoring (19.8 ppg) , while on defense they are 28th in yards allowed, 28th vs the pass and 15th in points allowed. Brady will have a field day vs this porous pass defense as the Pats win this one by at least 2 TDs.

NFL Thursday Night Football Free Pick

Indianapolis Colts (2-2) @ Houston Texans (1-3) 8:25 PM Eastern
By: Charles Beckham
The Line:
Open: PK
Currently: Houston -4
Total:
Open: 45
Currently: Over/Under 41
Injury Updates:
Andrew Luck (Out), Vontae Davis (Q), Mike Adams (Q)
Nate Washington (Out), Cecil Shorts (Out), Jonathan Grimes (Out), Whitney Mercilus (Q)
The Houston Texans will take on the Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium in Houston to kick off week 5 of the NFL Season. The Texans have really struggled this season on the offensive side of the football ranking 24th in points scored per game at 19.2 and 21st in rushing yards at just over 99. The Colts have been equally as bad tied for 26th in points scored at 18 and 26th in rushing yards at 87.5. The Texans should boast one of the better defenses in the league and I think tonight they show that as Andrew Luck has been ruled out for tonight. Matt Hasselbeck will be taking his place, but he was in the hospital late Tuesday night. This does not bode well for the quarterback who already has one of the worst offensive lines in the league. The Under is 9-2 in the Colts last 11 games and is 7-2 in the las 9 games of the series. The Texans are looking to get their first win against the Colts in their last 5 tries. I think this game stays way Under the 41 posted, so do many sharps as the line has moved from 45 to 41. Buy the Half point to 41.5 at -120.

I am on a hot streak in the NFL going 7-2 over my last 9 picks up 13 Units. Don't miss out on my winners this Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans Thursday Night Football Preview & Pick

NFL Preview: Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans

Written By David Hess (Follow me on Twitter @DavidHess311)

When: 8:30 PM ET, Thursday, October 8, 2015
Where: NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas
Televised: CBS/ NFL Network

Odds: The Game opened as a Pick and we now see Houston as a 2.5 point favorite. The OU Line currently sits at 44.5, after opening up at 45.

The Indianapolis Colts got off to an 1-2 start and were without Andrew Luck for their last game, but luckily it was vs the Jaguars. Still the Colts didn’t play well in that game and needed OT to win it by a 16-13 score. Luk did make the trip to Houston and he is listed as probable for this one. Still when he has played this year he hasn’t been effective at all as he has hit just 56% of his passes for 753 yards, throwing 5 TDs and 7 INTs so far. His QBR on the season is just 65.1. Those are not Luck like numbers at all and a big reason why the Colts are just 26th in the league in scoring, putting up just 18 ppg.  Another reason is a ground attack that ranks 26t in the league, putting up just 85.5 ypg on the ground. The defense has also struggled some as they have allowed 387.5 ypg, which is 26th in the league and 23.2 ppg, which is 16th. The Colts were picked by some o reach the Super Bowl, but they do not look like an elite team right now.

The Houston Texans have also not played well in the early going and just like the Colts, it has been their offense that has really let them down. Houston is 1-3 on the year and while they have put up 3842 ypg on the year, they have only scored just 19.2 They just bog down when they get to the redzone, plus have had many untimely Penalties and turnovers. Ryan Mallet is the QB and has some bad overall numbers, just like Luck does. So far Ryan has hit just 51.8% of his passes for 720 yards. He has 3 TDs and 3 INTs and his QBR is just 65.3 on the year so far. Looks like Hoyer mat take over at QB after throwing for 232 yards with 2 TDs and zero INTs in relief of Mallet last week.Defensively they have played decent in allowing just 344 ypg overall and 228.8 ypg through the air, but still tey have allowed 27 ppg, which is 26th in the league. That is due to the offense putting the defense in bad positions. Last week the Falcons return 2 fumbles back for TDs vs the Texans. Turnovers have been a problem for his team.

[302] Houston -2 over Indianapolis
Going with the Texans at home here as Indy just hasn’t played as expected this year and Luck may still not be at 100%. Even at 100% he wasn’t that good this year as his OL has struggled to protect him and the running game has been non-existent. Houston hasn’t had many problems moving the ball and I feel that the switch to Hoyer will help this offense put the ball in the endzone, would a switch be made. The Texas are also better on defense and the home team is 7-2-1 the last 10 in the series. Look for the Texans to get a big 2win in this one.

Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans Pick and Betting Odds - Sunday, September 27, 2015 | SportsBetCappers.com

The Indianapolis Colts have started their campaign 0-2 for a second straight year and come into Sunday’s game with the Tennessee Titans with the ‘Must-Win’ tag. The Colts have committed a league-high 8 turnovers in the opening two weeks and their offense has looked rather weary against the Bills and Jets, in my view two of the Top 5 defences in the NFL coached by Rex Ryan and Red Bowles respectively. Now a return to AFC South play should be just what Chuck Pagano needs to notch his first win of 2015. Andrew Luck has gone 16-2 vs AFC South opponents since joining the league and is a perfect 6-0 against Tennessee.

Rookie Marcus Mariota has looked anything but a rookie in his first two starts in the NFL. In week one he torched the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to put in a near perfect performance. In week 2, the Titans came back down to earth behind a 28-14 loss to the Browns on the road as their secondary got burnt by Johnny Manziel.

The key to this game will be controlling the football; making better use of Frank Gore would go a long way in accomplishing that feat. The number is much lower than expected at the beginning of the season and that just makes a very good Colts team that much more of a ‘Value’ play this week.

NFL Preview & Free Pick: Indianapolis Colts vs Philadelphia Eagles

NFL Preview: Indianapolis Colts vs Philadelphia Eagles

When: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, August 16, 2015
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Televised: NFL Network

Philadelphia is listed as 4 point favorites, while the O/U line has been set at 41.5.

This game features the highest OU line of the preseason so far, but will we see many points? Im not sure, but I do know this would probably be a better game in the regular season. This game should feature a couple of high powered offenses, but Philly will not be starting Sam Bradford for this one, while you can expect limited playing time from Andrew Luck and his solid WR Corps. That means that Mark Sanchez will get solid time for the eagles, while you will see time from Matt Hasselback on the other side and then we get into the guys that will never play.

Neither team has to work much on the offense as they two teams will put up points in bunches this year. The defenses is where these teams will look to improve this year. Last year the Eagles were 23rd in the league in points allowed and really struggled vs the pass, while the Colts were 19th in points and had some issues vs the run, which seems to be a recurring theme for the Colts each year. The Colts defense is aging some and they do have some depth issues, which means they may take a bit longer to improve. The Eagles defense has been upgraded with the drafting of three CBs in their first 5 picks and while it might not pay off right away, it will as the season goes on. Their front 7 was decent last year and should be better this time around.

Prediction
Indianapolis Colts OVER 11 (-112) Season Wins
The Indianapolis Colts are an organization that likes to win, but more importantly, make a great effort in the offseason to put themselves in a great position to win. The Colts made a huge acquisition in the offseason by picking up Andre Johnson from the Houston Texans. Looking purely on recent statistics, this isn’t a huge gain for the Colts. However, the numbers are deceiving based on the quarterback woes the Texans have gone through recently. Johnson will now play with one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Andrew Luck and will not be the only threat in the wide receiver position. Speaking of Luck, he has been the best quarterback to come out of the NFL Draft with a ton of hype and actually live up to the hype since Peyton Manning. In hindsight, the Colts drafting Luck and letting Manning go was absolutely brilliant. The Colts had an excellent season last year despite being blown out by the New England Patriots in what is now known as Deflate Gate. The running back position is the huge question mark for this upcoming season. They picked up Frank Gore so we will see how he performs and holds up during the season. If this Colts team can enter the playoffs with everyone healthy, they are my pick to win the AFC Conference.
