Odds: The
game opened up as a Pk and has been but up to the Titans as 2 point favorites.
The O/U line opened up at 38 and has been bet up to 38.5.
The Rams opened their preseason schedule with an 18-3 loss
at Oakland. This is a team that will be more defense than offense this year,
but they will need to score some points eventually. In the game they had just
285 yards of total offense and was able to move the ball some between the 20s,
but then they really bogged down. Nick Foles played a little and was 3-5 for 69
yards, which are not bad numbers. He should get more time in this one and after
him is Case Keenum, who was 12-17 for 83 yards vs the Raiders. The Strength of
this team is their defense, especially that front wall which has a few #1 draft
picks on it. They did Ok vs the run against the Raiders, but they did allow a
weak Oakland passing game to put up 215 yards and they also generated no sack. Still
this team will need more from their offense to win games this year.
I have a feeling the Titans are going to be in for a long
year as their win total has been set at 5.5 and I am looking for them to finish
under that. This is a team that has many holes on both sides of the ball and I
just don’t see more than 4 wins from them. In their opening game vs the Falcons
they fell behind 17-0 before eventually losing 31-24. Mariota did look solid
behind center as he was 7-8 for 94 yards, but backup Zach Mettenberger showed
even more as he went 8-11 for 129 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. He really looked
sharp and he hit a few deep throws as well. Overall the Titans did throw for
286 yards in the game, but remember that was vs one of the worst pass defenses
in the league last year. Let’s see how they do vs a tougher defense this week.
The defense was solid vs the Run, but the Atlanta passing game did put up 254
yards vs them. This is still not a good defense.
I am going to look at the Over in this game. The Titans
have shown that they are going to open up the offense and while they will face
a tougher defense than they did last week, I still expect them to have success.
On the other side we have a St Louis offense that should have much better
success vs a weaker defense than they faced last week. I see both teams trying
to open up the offense and putting some points on the board in this one. Take
the Over 38.5 here.
