The Michigan State Spartans have had an up and down year so far, but still they come in with a very solid 19-4 record, which includes a 6-4 mark in the very tough Big 10. After losing to Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska in succession, the Spartans have bounced back by winning by nine points at home over Maryland, by 31 points on the road over Northwestern and by 34 points at home vs Rutgers. Of their six conference wins they have all been by at least eight points and four of them have been by 25 or more. When they are on they are really on and right now they look like they have figured things out and are ready for a strong finish. The Spartans have been a strong offensive team this year as they rank 52nd in the nation in scoring (79 ppg), 29th in FG% (47.8%) and 8th in 3-pt shooting (41.4%). On defense they are even stronger as they have allowed just 62.4 ppg (13th) on 36.7% shooting (2nd).
The Michigan Wolverines come in at 17-6 on the year and have had a nice season in the Big 10 so far where they are 7-3. They do have a home win over Maryland, but still the majority of their wins have come vs the bottom feeders of the league. Despite going 5-3 SU in their last 8 conference games they are still just 2-6 ATS in those game. They barely beat Rutgers at home as 24.5 point chalk and their three losses in conference have all been by double digits. The wolverines are a good team and they play well at home, but they haven’t been nearly as dominant as the Spartans have been. Michigan has been a solid offensive team this year as they come in ranked 96th in scoring, putting up 76.9 ppg, while hitting 48.1% of their shots overall (21st) and 40.8% of their shots from long range (8th). On defense they have been solid as well as they come in ranked 38th in points allowed, giving up 65 ppg, but they are just 152nd in defensive FG%(42.8%) and 127th in three point defense (33.5%)

[561] Michigan State -3.5 over Michigan
I kind of already tipped my hand on this play. The Spartans have their swagger back right now and when they win a game it has been in dominating fashion, while the Wolverines could beat the likes of Rutgers by 11, Penn State by seven and Minnesota, who is 0-10 in conference by just five points. All those games were on this floor. The did beat Maryland here, but in their other three games vs good Big 10 competition they have been blown out. The offenses for these teams are pretty equal, but I give the Spartans a sizeable edge in defense and that is where this game will be won and covered by them. The road team is 5-1 ATS the last 6 in the series and I expect that trend to continue here.
