Over/Under:       42.5

Coming into the year I was one of the many that thought Minnesota could be a surprise team and so far it has panned out that way as they shook off their game 1 disaster at San Francisco two win their last 2 games rather easily. Still they haven’t played a complete game this year as they were outgained by 147 yards in the loss to San Francisco. They outgained the Lions by just 27 yards and were outgained by 115 yards in their 17 point win over San Diego. Minnesota is 2-1 on the year, but still their offense has put up just 294 ypg of total offense, while their defense has allowed 372.3 ypg so far. The bright spot has been their running game that ranks 3rd in the year. It was expected that their running game would bounce back with the return of Peterson and so far he has 165 yards on the ground, but does have  fumbles and no TDs. More concerning for this team should be their defense that will now be facing a Denver team that looked good on offense last week.

The Broncos come into the game at 3-0 on the year, while wins over Baltimore, Kansas City and Detroit to their credit so far. Offensively the Broncos finally had a good game in the win over Detroit on Sunday night. Manning showed in that game that he could still go deep and may have similar success vs a Vikings pass defense that has allowed 243 ypg through the air so far. Still this Bronco offense is in unfamiliar territory as they rank 30th in the league in total offense and 18th in passing. THose are not rankings you would expect to see from a Peyton led offense. One thing the Broncos do have is an excellent defense that ranks 1st in the league in yards allowed (259 ypg) and 1st vs the pass (176.3 ypg). They also allow just 87.3 ypg on the ground, so how will Minnesota move the ball in this game.

How will the Vikings score? Im not sure as their offense just isn’t clicking right now and it will have a tough time getting on track vs this tough Denver defense that ranks as tops in the league. The Vikings on offense have Adrian Peterson back and they will need to use him plenty here so to keep that Denver offense that may be waking up on the sidelines. I expect a lot of running by minnesota here. The Viking defense has struggled this year, but Denver is 30th in the league in total offense and I don’t see them scoring a ton here either. Just can’t see this game getting to 40 points at all here.
