The Indiana Pacers have had a decent start to their year as they come in at 16-10 overall, but they are just 6-7 on the road and have lost their last 4 away from home, including a 96-84 loss at Memphis in their last game. The Pacers have upped their pace of play his year and the 84 points was the lowest output since scoring just 76 points in their third game of the season and it was just the 2nd time all year that they were held below 90 points. This is a better offensive team then we have been used to seeing over the years and it shows by the fact that they are 7th in the league in scoring, putting up 103 ppg on the year. Normally when a team starts to play faster they lose something on the defensive end of the floor, but that is not the case here with the Pacers as they still come in ranked 7th in points allowed, giving up just 98.5 ppg on the year.

The San Antonio Spurs are just lying in wait as they have been pretty much under the radar this year due to the fact that the Warriors have had such a hot start to their year. The Spurs come into this game with a 23-5 record on the year, which includes a perfect 15-0 mark a home. The Spurs just haven’t gone 15-0 SU at home, but also 11-4 ATS in those games and have outscored their opponents by 16.2 ppg at this venue so far. The come in on a five game winning streak and have won those games by an average of 22.2 ppg. They are flatout crushing teams this year. The Spurs have done it mostly with a defense that comes in ranked 1st in points allowed, giving up just 88.9 ppg on the year, including just 87.5 ppg. They are just playing some ridiculous defense right now and it has allowed them to slow the pace on offense, so you will not see the same uptempo team that we have been used to seeing from this team. The Spurs shoot the ball very well as they are 2nd in FG% (48.3%), but they score just 102 ppg, which is 12th in the league.

[714] Indiana/ San Antonio Under 196
I know the Spurs have scored a bit more of late and the Pacers have upped their pace of play, but Indiana still can be slowed down and held in check just like they were at Memphis the other night and I feel that the Spurs can keep them in check especially since this game is at home where they have allowed just 87.5 ppg. The Pacers have struggled some on defense away from home, but the Spurs are not looking to light up the scoreboard, which Indiana has the 7th ranked defense in the league, so we know they can play solid defense. What I’m getting at here is that the 196 posted total is just too high for teams that play defense as well as these two do. Take the Under here.
