College Football Power Rankings After Week 1

College Football Week 1 Power Rankings
By: Charles Beckham

1. Ohio State (-) Looked very much like the number 1 team in the nation on Monday night. Without star player Joey Bosa the defense struggled at times, but this team can only get better from here. Scary thought for everyone else. Virginia Tech boasts one of the top defenses in the ACC, and one of the best defensive coordinators in Bud Foster. The offense looked flawless as they easily ran the score to 42.
Next Week: Vs Hawaii (OSU -41)

2. Alabama (-) Dominated an inferior team in Wisconsin and looked very good while doing it. Derrick Henry looked like a beast behind one of the top offensive lines in the nation. The defense looked stout as well making what is supposed to be a dynamic rushing attack in Wisconsin look quite mediocre.
Next Week: Vs Mid. Tennessee State (Bama -34.5)

3. TCU (-) Let Minnesota hang around much longer than the number 3 team in the nation, but they will continue to get better and unlike last year they play Baylor at the end of the year this season.
Next Week: Vs Stephen F Austin

4. Baylor (-) Struggled Mightily against a much inferior SMU team. 2nd Half looked like a completely different team shutting down SMUs offense and allowing their spread attack to run rampant.
Next Week: Vs Lamar

5. USC (-)Beat an over matched Arkansas State team from the first whistle to the last. IMO looks to be the team to beat in the PAC 12 South.
Next Week: Vs Idaho (USC -44)

6. Michigan State (+1) Let a Western Michigan team hang around the entire game. Possibly overlooking this game for their battle against Oregon at home next week.
Next Week Vs Oregon (MSU -3.5)

7. Oregon (-1) Played well from start to finish. Defense still has many questions, but many of those will be answered this upcoming weekend in East Lansing. It will be interesting to see how Vernon Adams plays following the hit he took last week late in the game.
Next Week @ Michigan State (ORE +3.5)

8. Auburn (-) Jeremy Johnson did not play like the quarterback that many thought he would be, but the defense was great for 3 quarters. They will need to finish games better as the enter SEC play, but this is a big win for this Auburn team to start the season.
Next Week: Vs Jacksonville State

9. Georgia (-) This game was cut short, but Georgia looked very good. Their defense fizzled out late in the 2nd, but the offense looked great and Nick Chubb looks to be a Heisman candidate once again behind a great offensive line.
Next Week: @ Vanderbilt (UGA -21)

10. Florida State (-) Everett Golston looked to be everything advertised as he threw for 4 touchdowns in the opener. They showed their superiority in the second half and pulled away. They do not play a ranked team until October 24th.
