When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 26, 2015
Where: Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas
Televised: ABC

Odds: Oklahoma State opened as a 4 point favorite and it has been bet down slightly to -3. The OU line opened up at 59 and has held at 59.

Last year the Oklahoma State Cowboys were one of the most inexperienced teams in the nation, but still they found a way to 7-6 on the year and make it to a bowl game. This year all those players are grown up and now this is one of the more experienced teams in the Big 12. The Cowboys haven’t played anybody yet but still they are 3-0 on the year. Oklahoma State started out with a lackluster 24-13 win at Central Michigan, before coming home to crush Central Arkansas and UTSA by a combined 80 points. This week they step up a bit in competition as they take on Texas in the Big 12 opener for both teams. Oklahoma State is 4-0 ATS the last 4 in this series. The Cowboys have really opened the offense up, scoring 102 points in their last two games. So far the Cowboys have averaged 500 ypg and 330.7 passing ypg per game, after putting up 465 ypg overall and just 204 ypg through the air last year. Again though, they will have a tougher test this week. The defense has been good as well as they have allowed just 303 ypg and 11.7 ppg so far. They will also get a stiffer test vs a Texas offense that has put up 86 points the last 2 weeks. .

Charlie Strong came in last year and cleaned house, getting rid of the bad seeds on the team and they suffered through a 6-7 season. This year it was supposed to be better, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but it hasn’t panned out that way of yet. The Longhorns started out the year with an embarrassing 38-3 road loss to Notre Dame. The longhorns then bounced back with a less than stellar 42-28 win over Rice, before losing to California 45-44. In the Cal game Texas wet into the 4th quarter 21 points down, but made a furious comeback before a missed extra point on their final score sealed their fate in that game. Now at 1-2 and maybe a bit down from last week they have to face a hot Oklahoma State squad. The Cowboys have averaged 41.7 ppg this year and that is not good news for the longhorns, who have allowed 519 ypg and 37 ppg so far this year. This was supposed to be the best defense in the Big 12. Not gonna happen. This is a bad defensive team and they will have to outscore teams to win their games this year.

[393] Oklahoma State/ Texas Over 59
Money has come in on the Over and I will follow it. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are clicking on offense right now as they have put up 101 points in their last 2 games. Yes it was vs weak competition, but this Texas defense is having their struggles right now. It’s a mystery, because this team has loads of defensive talent. Still they have allowed 517 ypg and 37 ppg so far, so something isn’t right with this unit right now. On offense the Longhorns showed the last two weeks that they can put up big numbers as they have scored 86 points the last two weeks and that 4th quarter vs Cal should give that offense confidence moving forward. Oklahoma state has good defensive numbers but have played a good offense just yet.  This one has the makings an old fashioned Texas shootout.
