When: 8:30 PM ET, Monday, October 12, 2015
Where: Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego California
Televised: ESPN
Odds: San Diego has opened as a 3.5 point favorite and that line has held all week. The OU line currently stands at 45.5
The Pittsburgh Steelers come in with a record of 2-2 on the year and will continue to play without QB Ben Roethlisberger, who is out with a knee injury. The Steelers have brought in Michael Vick to run their offense. Vick wasn’t terrible in his start vs the Ravens as he hit 73.1% of his passes for 124 yards, with 1 INT and no picks. Still he Steelers lost the game 23-20 in OT. Deangelo williams leads the team in rushing with 211 yards, but LeVeon Bell is back and has now rushed for 191 yards in his 2 games played thus far. The big surprise on this team so far has been their defense, which has played very well, despite the loss of Troy P. at safety and Dick Lebeau at DC. Pittsburgh comes in ranked 12th in yards allowed and 7th in points allowed, giving up just 18.8 pg.
THe San Diego Chargers also come into this game with a 2-2 record on the year. The Chargers are 0-2 n the road, but 2-0 at home, including a 30-27 win last week over Cleveland. It was a much tougher game than san Diego had expected. Philip Rivers had a very good game as he hit 23 of 38 passes for 358 yards, with 3 TDs and zero INTs. Rivers has had a solid season so far, piling up 1249 yards passing with 8 TDs and 4 INTs. His QBR for the year is a solid 105.2. The passing offense ranks 2nd in the league, but the problem on this offense is their ground attack, which ranks 20th in the league. Rookie Melvin Gordon leads the team in rushing with 228 yards, but still they were expecting more out of their ground attack. They were also expecting more from their defense which is 26th in points allowed, giving up 27.5 ppg on the year.

[467] San Diego -3.5 over Pittsburgh
I look for San Diego to win this one. The Steelers have the better defense, but San Diego has the better offense and I don’t feel that Pittsburgh can score enough to get the win or the cover. I look for the Chargers to come up with a way to shutdown the Pittsburgh run game and make Vick beat them. San Diego does have a solid pass defense and their pass offense is ranked 2nd in the league. The Chargers are 13-2 ATS on Monday nights vs a non-division opponent, while Pittsburgh is 1-6 ATS vs the AFC West. San Diego gets the job done in this one.
