Boise State Broncos- The Boise State Broncos had hopes of crashing the playoff party this year, but that was derailed two weeks ago when they lost 35-24 at BYU. That game followed up a very lackluster home performance in their 16-13 win over Washington to start the year. Boise State finally put a complete game together last week, but it vs FCS for Idaho State, in which the Broncos won 52-0. That was pretty much expected, but they have really struggled in their two games vs FBS teams. On offense this year the Broncos have been soid as they have averaged 432 ypg and 30.7 ppg. Still that is 10 ppg down from last year, which is a bit surprising as they do have 9 starters back from last year’s squad. Even though they had to replace RB Ajayi and QB Hendrick, they were still supposed to be a very good offense. The defense brought back 8 starters from last year’s team and so far so good as they have allowed just 286 ypg and 16 ppg.
Virginia Cavaliers- Virginia is a team that that is looking at a long season as they have just 10 starters back from last year’s team that went 5-7. Mike London is clearly on the hot seat and this may very well be his last year at the Helm of the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers started off the season with two very tough games vs UCLA on the road and Notre Dame at home and they really surprised people with their play as ey hung tough with UCLA before finally losing by 18 and then at home vs the Irish, Notre Dame needed a last minute drive to beat the Cavs by a 34-27 score. The Notre Dame defense has shut down both Texas and Georgia Tech this year, but Virginia was able to put up 27 points and 416 yards on them. Virginia dd pick up their first win of the season last week and they must have been worn out for their two games vs Notre Dame and UCLA as they beat William & Mary by just 6 points and outgained them by just 2 yards. That is a bit shocking considering how well they played vs the Irish the week prior.

The Virginia offense has looked surprisingly good this year, but I think that ends tonight vs a Boise State defense that has looked rock solid in the early going. So far the Broncos have allowed just 286 ypg of total offense and just 16 ppg and should have success vs a Virginia offense hat has really played over it’s head so far. On Offense Boise has put up some yards, but still they have some issues on that side of the ball as they have scored 10 ppg less than last year. They seem to be really missing Ajayi and Hendrick. I can see both teams struggling to score in this one and the money coming in on the Under supports that theory.
