Odds: The line opened with Florida
State listed as 10 point favorites and they hand been bet down some to 7 point favorites. The OU line opened up at 53 and has been bet down to 47.
Last
year Florida State went 13-1 with their lone loss on the year coming to Oregon
in the Playoffs. It was a crushing loss as the Ducks won 59-20. Now they move
on with Heisman winning QB Jameis Winston and all was supposed to be ok with
the addition of Everett Golson, who transferred from Notre Dame. The Noles did
look good in their opener vs Texas, but last week they looked very mediocre in
beating South Florida at home. In that game the Noles won by 20, but the game
was just 7-7 at the half and they failed to cover the 28.5 in the game. Similar
to last year when FSU continuously struggled in the first half of games, before
waking up in the 2nd half.
The
Eagles had a heck of a game last week vs Howard and it was the first time that
I ever remember the mercy rule being used in a football game. That what
happened as the Eagles led Howard 62-0 in the first half and then the teams
decided to play just 10 minute quarters in the 2nd half. I never
heard of that before, but it was warranted as it was complete domination by the
Eagles in the 76-0 win. In that game they outgained Howard 483-11, holding them
to just 4 yards passing in the game. This is on the heels of beating Main 24-3
and outgaining them 359-11. Through two games this year the Eagles have allowed
a mere 51 ypg and 1.5 ppg. That won’t last, but still they are incredible numbers.
I expect them to have a tougher time in this one.

Gotta
feel that this will be a low scoring game. I know that the BC defense can’t
keep up what it is doing, but still it is the strength of the team and the FSU
offense has really looked inconsistent so far. What hasn’t been inconsistent is
their defense that has allowed just 286 ypg and 15 ppg so far. I know they
haven’t faced anyone yet, and the BC offense looked good so far but still this
is an offense that is learning the ropes with just 4 starters back and I see
them struggling vs a much tougher defense in this one. Both offenses are not the
strength of these teams, while the defenses are. Money has come in on the Under
here and that’s the way I will go in this one.
